Variegated Pothos (Epipremnum aureum)
The appearance of yellow leaves on a Pothos is often a symptom of water stress, commonly associated with overwatering that causes a lack of oxygenation in the roots. It can also be due to natural senescence, where the plant discards old leaves to concentrate energy on new shoots. Factors such as sudden temperature changes or the use of water with excess salts can accelerate this progressive discoloration.
Manually remove any fully yellow leaves using disinfected scissors.
Insert a wooden stick to the bottom of the pot to rule out waterlogging.
Wipe healthy leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and improve photosynthesis.
Ensure the top of the plant receives even indirect light to prevent further yellowing.
Moderate, allow the top layer to dry (every 7-10 days).
Bright indirect, tolerates partial shade. Avoid direct sun.
Ideal between 65-80°F (18-27°C). Avoid cold drafts.
All-purpose mix with good drainage (perlite or coco coir).
Balanced liquid fertilizer every 30 days during warm seasons.
